school self-evaluation & improvement
Homer Education provides a range of services which support effective self-evaluation and constructive school improvement planning.
With over 15 years’ experience of working with schools, colleges and universities, Homer Education knows the importance of school self-evaluation in the Ofsted inspection framework.
We use research techniques and opinion surveys to find out what key stakeholders like pupils, parents and teachers think of their schools, not only in Birmingham and the West Midlands – but across the UK.
Following Ofsted’s change of approach to school inspections in 2005 – where school self-evaluation became an essential pre-requisite to every Ofsted inspection – the need for a good self-evaluation form (SEF) suddenly became a priority.
We believe that our qualitative questioning approach is highly effective in discovering what people really think. This method reveals both complex issues and subjective feelings. However, well-designed questionnaires are also very useful and we use them as necessary in our research.
"When they worked directly with schools to help reveal students’, parents’ and other stakeholders’ opinions, it was transformational. This was because they were able to get to the underlying reasons for why people thought as they did, and the schools were able to respond positively and creatively to the issues that were identified as a priority.”
