We first worked with Easington Community School to support their improvement plans following a poor OfSTED report. We were commissioned to do a full opinion survey of pupils, parents and other stakeholders (see the School Improvement section of this website), Following this review it became clear that the school’s identity and communications needed revising.

Both the new direction being forged at the school and links to the local ex-mining community needed emphasising. There had also been a competition amongst pupils to make suggestions for a new logo. We were able to draw all these elements together to create an effective new identity that complimented the school’s new catch line “Everyone Celebrates Success.”

The device we created of three aspirational shapes above the O of Easington has elements of celebration and success and also echoes of the winding wheel at the top of every mineshaft. This device was also used to create a matching identity for the school’s new Classroom of the Future, The Studio, which also hosts public events.

When the school recently won Science and Maths special status we were able to successfully adapt the branding.
